Arcomagno

Attractions and all the things to see and do for an unforgettable holiday

The Arcomagno is the most important natural site in the upper Tyrrhenian Sea of Cosenza as well as the best-known image of Calabria. It is an imposing rock arch that overlooks the small beach of the same name, which cannot be reached by car but only via a pedestrian path made up of stairways and a beaten path in the wonderful Mediterranean scrub.

Once you arrive the scenery will undoubtedly leave you speechless. Such a wonder of nature that the guide “the World’s best beaches” introduced the Arco Magno beach in the list of the 50 most enchanting beaches in Europe, ranking 39th in the ranking. This prestigious recognition was found only on very few Italian beaches, two of which are in Calabria.

The image of the Arcomagno has always been used for advertising campaigns in the Calabria region: on airlines, in promotional installations abroad, in television commercials or as partnerships with prestigious brands (such as the collaboration with Ferrero). The increase in its notoriety has meant that the number of visitors to the site is increasing every year.

How to reach Arcomagno?

To admire the arch, as in the very viral images we find on social media, you must access via the pedestrian path which also offers a glimpse of the truly enchanting bay of San Nicola Arcella.
From the south side, you need to take the path that starts from La Marinella beach, reachable on foot from the historic center (about 15 minutes) or by car (5 minutes).
From the north side, the path starts from the beach of the Arcomagno area (exit San Nicola Arcella nord) and continues on foot up to the arch.
The route, in both directions, is supervised by the staff who collaborate with the Sannicolese Pro Loco, who also take care of the cleanliness and good maintenance of the site. This is why you need to pay an entrance fee of € 3 (reduced to € 1.50 for children under 12 years old).
Visits are limited so that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy this beauty without it being overcrowded, dictating a stay time of 30 minutes per person.

To purchase the ticket online or for further information on the Arcomagno visit the website www.arcomagnocalabria.it

It is however possible to admire the Arcomagno from the sea side via boats, what we always recommend is the boat trip which also offers the possibility of visiting other points of interest in the bay such as the Crawford Tower and Dino Island.
Be careful though, it is forbidden to pass under the arch for safety reasons!
